Alison Forbes Van Hook
Program Director
Alison has over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Before relocating to Sun Valley, she held several leadership and fundraising roles in Los Angeles nonprofits, including serving as Executive Director of an award-winning after-school program that supported students in under-resourced schools across the Los Angeles, Compton, and Hawthorne school districts.
Since moving to Idaho in 2016, Alison has continued to advance nonprofit missions through strategic planning and fundraising, working as a consultant and Development Director in the Wood River and Treasure Valleys. Now, as part of the Spur team, Alison leads the development and implementation of leadership programs, advisory services, donor education, and grantmaking initiatives.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University. Alison has also completed advanced training in nonprofit leadership and management through the Annenberg Foundation’s Alchemy+ Nonprofit Leadership program, the California Center for Nonprofit Management’s Executive Director Bootcamp, the Executive Service Corps’ Developing Development program, and Cause Communications’ Communicating for Results course.
